They love me, they really love me.
The greatest thing happened to me about a week ago....
I walked into my cooperating teacher's classroom and the students looked up at me, they all smiled and then a few said "HI MISS. HAMMERSLEY!!!!", oh and then the best part, one ran up and gave me a hug and then showed me what he was working on.
--I have worked with kids for a LOOOOONG time now, and by long time I would say at least 8 years, whether it be on a swim team or in summer camp, but that was always one of my favorite things...when the kids get the big grin on their faces and are sooooo excited to see you come in that day. Or a swimmer you coach sees you in the grocery store and runs back to his mom or dad and says, "Hey, what are you doing here?"...you know because swim coaches and of course teachers would never ever shop in YOUR grocery store! You never leave the pool or the classroom, you live there and they only are excited to see you there, otherwise it's wayyy too weird, ohhhh kids....it's the best ever!--
The smile on their faces just made my day wonderful, on a friday afternoon it's a great feeling to know you mean something to them and they want you to be there. If I could know that everyday I would see faces like that: excited to see me, excited to learn, and excited to share, I know that teaching would be what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Really it's true, for some reason FINALLY....they love me, they really love me. :)
